The Clash of Racers II Twitch event last Sunday found new heroes. Team RED emerged victorious after an evening filled with exciting racing game challenges, banter, mini-games and most importantly: a passion for fast vehicles. We invited two of the winners for a special post-interview on CoR II: David ‘Dave Gaming’ Karapetian and Mathieu ‘rAii’ Wacker.

🏆 The reigning CoR champions, Team RED 🏆

  • Eefje ‘sjokz’ Depoortere – Team Captain
  • Aarmir ‘Cyanide’ Thacker
  • Mathieu ‘rAii’ Wacker
  • David ‘Dave Gaming’ Karapetian
  • Emily Jones

Four disciplines, one winning team, five heroes

The evening consisted of various mini-games for the captains and main challenges for all participants. The racers competed in F1 2020, iRacing, Trackmania and Assetto Corsa Competizione. Both of our interviewees enjoyed F1 2020 the most. rAii highlights the great team-work between the red cars, as on the Montreal circuit, rAii, Dave and Emily supported each other with slipstream which helped them to claim all three podium placements. But it wasn’t only the serious racing that entertained the players – both winners also loved jumping their way through Trackmania as the game is completely different from all other titles.

sjokz led Team RED to victory

rAii is already excited for a potential third edition of Clash of Racers, as he is eager to defend the title. To spice things up on the grid, he could imagine getting a third team involved. Dave has entirely different wishes for the next events: “Less collisions or stewards for GamerMissile”, laughs our Hardware Review host.

But can the two content creators imagine themselves as the next team captains? Well, both of them think it would be kind of cool – but actually, they want to get behind the wheel again themselves.

Speaking of captains, their chief was none other than League of Legends caster Eefje ‘sjokz’ Depoortere. Despite her loveable chaos in Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, she managed to lead her players to the trophy. As Dave and rAii explain, she was much more than just great motivation because by winning the first mini-game, she gave RED a great starting position with qualifying for Formula 1, which allowed them to establish an early lead.

The true MVP

Not only sjokz but all five RED members fought strongly for their team. But who was the MVP among the racers? In the CoR show, Australian Emily Jones received the award as she first excelled in all disciplines, then went to sleep for an hour, and then casually started her normal day job again. Both players agree that she deserves the title as MVP. For rAii, the streamer was the strongest racer on the entire grid and also a great person, as she is always joyful when racing – and obviously very skillful too. Or to say it in Dave’s words: “She was quite good in one discipline and excellent in the other three.”

Now that Clash of Racers II is over and Team RED has brought home the trophy, what does this achievement mean for the winners? For rAii, he had a lot of fun and that counts the most. “The victory in the end is only the icing on top of the cake”. Dave shares this point of view and jokingly adds that the win is probably the start of a new esports career.
