Preparation is key

Soft or hard tires, when should you switch to which version? When do you pit? What about fuel management? There are many aspects to consider if you want to improve your lap times, but the important aspect: compose your basic strategy before entering the next race. There is no secret formula that works for everyone, as you have to adapt your strategy to your driving style. However, Cem knows one universal trick: going for a pit stop early may give you a great advantage.

The perfect lap needs a perfect start

Once you have prepared all your blueprints on how to have the perfect race, you need to put the strategy into practice. Cem recommends that you really focus on getting the ideal start as the very beginning of the race can have a significant impact. A crucial mistake is to overdo it with speed, so the wheels start spinning and tire wear increases.

Cem also has another key recommendation: choose manual gearshift over automatic. While the latter might be more comfortable and easier for beginners, you lose valuable seconds since you cannot control the acceleration as precisely. Once you have switched to manual, your lap times will quickly improve – and Cem gives some additional advice on how to perfectly use lower gears.

How to Overtake

Now that you have managed to go faster, you can take advantage of this newly acquired speed and overtake opponents. ERS is a great help, but it can drain your battery. Before entering the race, you need to find the DRS zones so you can go full speed safely. Also remember: don't activate the ABS and never steer and brake at the same time.
