F1 ace Max Verstappen and sim racing pro Jonas Wallmeier won the 10-hour iRacing Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta by over a lap. Verstappen started the car in fifth place on the grid, but he was up to second by the end of the opening lap.

Verstappen jumped the sister Redline car of Dominik Fabre and Max Benecke at the first pitstop to move into the race lead. Verstappen and Wallmeier controlled the race thereafter, and it may have been a Redline 1-2, had Farber not encountered a couple of incidents.

Among them was a crash induced by a netcode issue which forced the team to retire the car owing to significant damage. Michele Constantini and Yohann Harth instead took second place for Apex Racing Team.

Williams Esports Chillblast took GTE class honors in the latest iRacing special event, with Lasse Bak and Daniel Lafuente behind the wheel. SimRC Titan’s Charlie Collins and Hayden Berns prevailed in a closely contested GT3 class from pole position.

Brothers win on MotoGP Esports’ return

The 2020 MotoGP eSport Championship finally fired back into life after a two-month break on Friday, with victories for brothers Adrian 'Williams_Adrian' Montenegro and Cristian 'Williams_Cristian' Montenegro.

Adrian, who competes for Red Bull KTM at the event, took a lights-to-flag victory in the opening race of the second round of the season at the Red Bull Ring. His brother was second with Juan 'Juan_nh16' Antonio Nunez rounding out the podium positions.

Suzuki rider Williams_Cristian responded in the second race at the Malaysian venue in Sepang. He took his first victory of the season. Williams_Adrian was second with Juan_nh16 finishing in third place for the second successive race.

Reigning series champion Andrea 'AndrewZh' Saveri’s difficult season continued with fifth and eighth place finishes in the two races. He’s now down in fifth place in the drivers’ championship, some 51 points off Williams_Adrian. His brother is 29 points adrift in second place, with two-time champion Lorenzo 'trastevere73' Daretti in third place with 61 points.

The next round of the season takes place on Friday October 30, with races at Misano and Phillip Island.

Gergo Baldi trumps Moritz Löhner

Hungarian sim racer Gergo Baldi took is first victory in the RaceRoom ADAC GT Masters eSports 2020 on Saturday. Starting the race from P5, the M1RA Esports driver managed to snatch away the lead from the German favorite Moritz Löhner on lap eight.

Löhner was able to fight back and overtook Baldi yet again. Until the end, it wasn't quite clear, which racer would eventually get the upper hand. When there were only two minutes left on the clock, Baldi staged a bold maneuver in a chicane and was rewarded with a first place. Nikodem Wisniewski, who emerged victorious from Round 2 at Nürburgring, took third place, trailing behind the two race leaders.

However, thanks to his third place finish, Wisniewski claimed the lead in the standings once more. Tim Jarschel, who led the season prior to Round 4, dropped to second place after a poor finish at Sachsenring on P6. Meanwhile, Löhner shares rank three with Nestor Garcia. Despite his victory, Baldi is merely eighth in the standings but has now a realistic shot at making it to the top.

The next round takes the participants to Spielberg, Austria, on October 17.
