Redline Organise Imola Charity Race

iRacing

With the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Team Redline have revived their own pro championship that they ran in early 2020 for a one off charity event this weekend!

Leading sim racing outfit Team Redline are looking to fill the void left by the cancellation of the F1 race. With the Emilia Romagna region of Italy suffering excessive flooding and many people being displaced from their homes, F1 made the decision to cancel this weekend’s Grand Prix.

To do that, they’re bringing back their Real Racers Never Quit series. This was a championship ran in early 2020 on iRacing with a bunch of real world and esports drivers affiliated with the team. This time it is taking shape as a one-off event.

What is Real Racers Never Quit?

The six round season of Real Racers Never Quit took place in early 2020. Drivers raced the likes of Formula 3, V8 Supercars, GTE and Prototypes at Spa, Barcelona, Watkins Glen, Road America, Interlagos and Suzuka.

At the end of the season, current F1 driver Max Verstappen won the championship after winning half of the races. 100 points behind was DTM driver Kelvin van der Linde, who in turn finished ahead of now-former Redline driver and F1 racer Lando Norris.

Other noteworthy names to have taken part in the series included Formula E champions Stoffel Vandoorne and António Félix da Costa. There was also F1 Esports race runner-up Frederik Rasmussen, World’s Fastest Gamer winner Rudy van Buren and even F1 race winner Juan Pablo Montoya. There was even an appearance by sim racing content creator Jimmy Broadbent.

How to Follow

Expect much of the same names to appear in this weekend’s one-off race around the Imola circuit. Drivers will be competing in the Dallara F3 cars, and the event can be followed along on the Team Redline Twitch channel at 15:30pm CEST on 21 May.

EDIT 20/05/2023: There will be four races, all on the Imola circuit. First in F3 cars, second in the Mazda MX-5, third in Formula Ford and the last race in the Toyota GR86.

The event will also act as a means to raise money for victims of the flooding in the Emilia Romagna region. Keep an eye out on Redline’s social channels for announcements regarding drivers and how to possibly donate.
