Gran Turismo World Series

Formerly the FIA-certified Gran Turismo championships, the Gran Turismo World Series is the premier series for the PlayStation racing title. Competitors participate both from the comfort of their own home and at various onsite locations. 

The top Gran Turismo 7 drivers compete across two competitions (Manufacturers Cup and Nations Cup) in regular World Series online rounds, and the return of onsite Gran Turismo live shows such as the World Series Showdown in Red Bull Hangar-7 in Austria and the World Finals in Monaco. 

Format 

The Manufacturers Cup features drivers representing automotive brands whilst the Nations Cup is all about drivers racing for themselves. Regular online rounds are made up of the one race, whilst the World Series Showdown and World Finals rounds have multiple races. 

Regular World Series rounds award points to the top three finishers, whilst the World Series Showdown sees the top six score with more emphasis being put on the driver’s performance in the World Finals. Whilst Manufacturers Cup rounds only consist of racing in GT3 and GT4 spec cars, Nations Cup rounds are in any type of car that can be found on Gran Turismo 7. 

Toyota also host their official esports tournament through GT7 which will take place alongside the World Finals in Monaco. 

How to follow 

Each online broadcast round tends to premiere mid afternoon with live shows starting in the evenings. The schedule is as follows: 

Manufacturers Cup Rd 1: 23 July
Nations Cup Rd 1: 24 July
World Series Showdown: 29-31 July
Nations Cup Rd 2: 25 September
Manufacturers Cup Rd 2: 9 October
Manufacturers Cup Rd 3: 6 November
Nations Cup Rd 3: 13 November
Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup: 24 November
World Finals: 25-27 November 

All rounds are broadcast on the Gran Turismo YouTube as well as the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels. 

How to get involved 

Search the Sport Mode tab on your copy of Gran Turismo 7 to find your own way of competing in the Gran Turismo World Series. The World Series broadcast rounds and live shows will feature only drivers with Driver Rating A or above, but there will be organised rounds for every driver below that rating.
