The officially sanctioned sim racing series of the IMSA SportsCar Championship returns for a second season in collaboration with iRacing, VCO Esports and Michelin. With the addition of the four GTP cars to iRacing used in the real world IMSA in place of the Touring Car class, the GTD cars remain but are now the second fastest class.
There are four races of 160 minutes in length, with teams of two drivers competing in the GTP and GTD class. There will be 20 entrants in the GTP class (made up of the BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V.Series R, Porsche 963 and Acura ARX-06), and 25 entrants are in the GTD class (made up of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020, BMW M4 GT3, Ferrari 296 GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO and Porsche 911 GT3 R 992).
The usual crop of top iRacing drivers and teams will be competing. Williams Esports, Team Redline, BS+COMPETITION, Altus, Coanda and Brabham will all be fielding entries in the championship this year. There will be a $25,000 prize pool to compete for.
All rounds begin at 9pm CET. You can follow them via VCO Esports’ official Twitch and YouTube as well as iRacing’s Twitch and YouTube channels. The schedule is as follows:
Rd 1: Road Atlanta – 5 November
Rd 2: Watkins Glen – 12 November
Rd 3: Sebring – 3 December
Rd 4: Daytona Road Course – 16 December
