After the success of the cross-platform VCO Esports Racing World Cup, the Esports Racing League followed suit. The best teams in all of esports racing field five of their most versatile drivers on three racing simulation platforms: iRacing, rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Format

There are three seasonal ERL Cups. Up to 30 teams compete in 10-15 minute sprints and the top select in every race progress through to the next race. Teams must nominate five drivers before each seasonal Cup with three per event, and all drivers use the same car on every platform. Up until now, all ERWC/ERL races on ACC were in the Mercedes-AMG GT3, all rFactor 2 races were in the Formula Pro and all iRacing races were in the Holden ZB Commodore V8 Supercar.

The Summer Cup’s first round and Masters taking place on rFactor 2 will use the Toyota Corolla BTCC, the round on iRacing will be with the Dallara IR18 IndyCar and the ACC round uses the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup.

There’s three regular ERL rounds (one on each platform) but each Cup then has a round called the Masters (with the top 12 teams from the regular season) with each one taking place on a different platform. The winner of the Masters are determined as the seasonal cup champions.

The bottom five teams after the regular ERL Cup season are entered into Relegation races and they will compete against five hopeful new teams on the sim that the following ERL Cup’s Masters will take place on.

After the Fall Cup, the 12 teams with the most points from all three seasonal Cups rounds will qualify for the second rendition of the Esports Racing World Cup, intended to be an onsite event in Germany taking place early 2023.

Prize pool

Each individual ERL regular round has a prize pool of $2,500 dished out amongst all the teams, the Masters has a $10,000 prize pool. In total, teams can earn their share of a $50,000 throughout all three ERL Cups, and then an extra $50,000 is up for grabs in the ERWC.
