gamescom 2020 will take place digitally from August 27-30, with lots of changes and tweaks to deliver a great virtual experience. A must-watch for every gamer: the Opening Night Live!

The show kicks off on August 27 at 8 PM CEST. This year’s event will be two hours long and feature around 38 games. Some of them are brand-new and long-awaited – maybe there are even some upcoming highlights for racing fans in the pipeline! ONL is open for co-streaming on Twitch and YouTube. This means, viewers can tune in either via the official broadcasts from gamescom such as their YouTube-channel, or follow one of their favorite content creators who is airing the event.

Right afterwards, the action continues as the ONL Aftershow takes over where the announcements will be discussed. The aftershow starts at 10 PM CEST.

The event will be hosted by video games journalist Geoff Keighley who has already hyped up the community by teasing that over 20 games will be revealed. But fans are not only waiting for new titles – gamescom also brings information on upcoming esports tournaments, hardware and the next generation consoles.

Keighley further teased the community with a tweet on Sunday, stating that there are currently 38 games from 18 different publishers waiting to be revealed. Not all of those titles will be new releases, as the focus lies on updates from already announced games. DOOM Eternal Campaign Expansion and Season 2 of Fall Guys have been teased by now, but racing enthusiasts need to remain patient for the moment.

Mike Shinoda sets the tone

Even if the announcements aren’t quite what you have been hoping for, the show will still be a great experience: legendary songwriter and musician Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park composed the theme song for the evening.

The creator has provided some insight into the track on his Twitch stream, so prepare to have the catchy tune stuck in your head.
