With release of the new MotoGP 20 Milestone delivered once more a game for all skill groups.
Besides all car racing games, there is a hardboiled core community of two-wheel racing fans. They have been eagerly waiting for the new MotoGP title. Here is our review of what is arguably the new king of motorcylce sims.
Possibilities
The heart of MotoGP is the Management Career Mode which is celebrating its comeback. You can create your own character, sign with a team and even choose your technical staff and manager. Then it’s time to hop right into the action with official competitors of MotoGP, Moto 2 and Moto 3. You can also modify your bike and equipment up to the smallest of details. Not even your own team zone is safe.
Besides investing in your career, you can play quick races and time trials, and create even entire championships by yourself. The racing experience depends a lot on the AI which you can be adjusted freely. Even on the advanced setting though, the AI still drives very recklessly. You have to play on “pro settings”, for a more realistic racing experience.
Graphics
Since MotoGP switched to the Unreal Engine 4 in 2018, the game has seen a lot of improvement in this department. Tarmac and other surfaces look more realistic – as do rain effects.
Controls
MotoGP has always been a series for motorbike enthusiasts and that does obviously not change with the latest sequel. While beginners should definitely turn on the driving aids, pros and veterans will welcome the challenge the game poses when turning them off.
Tires now have three different zones that rub off independently depending on the track and your style of driving. Also the braking mechanic has been overhauled and is now more precise and sensitive than ever before.
Conclusion
With more options for customization and a slightly enhanced presentation, MotoGP 20 conveys the true feeling of what it feels like to be in charge of a racing team. While the lack of crucial features such as a split screen mode still leaves room for improvements, developer Milestone has definitely taken another step forward with their game.
