Over the past few weeks, Assetto Corsa Competizione developers Kunos have been teasing us all through the official Assetto Corsa social media channels with cars that will feature in the upcoming Challengers pack for ACC. All the cars that are being added compete in spec series championships, one of them being the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Type 992, that can be seen competing in the F1 Grand Prix support series, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
We enlisted the help of real world Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup racer and Porsche junior driver to assist us with this exclusive preview of the car. Heinrich has plenty of experience with the 911 GT3 Cup car, having competed last season in the Supercup and even winning a race at Zandvoort. He is also a prevelent sim racer, having just signed for .
Laurin was the ideal person to let us know about how close it was to reality. Watch him as he provides us an onboard lap of the circuit that will host the first round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup this year, Imola.
What other Challengers?
With only a few days to go before the PC launch of the Challengers pack, Kunos have also confirmed the inclusion of the likes of the BMW M2 CS Racing, the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 and it’s very likely that the Ferrari 488 Challenge will also be included.
Previous iterations of the 911 GT3 Cup car and Huracán Super Trofeo are already in ACC, both of which compete in championships on the undercard of SRO championships like the GT World Challenge and British GT. They may not be as quick as proper GT3 machinery and they are very different in many areas but they’re still very quick and fun to drive.
All these new cars will arrive on Assetto Corsa Competizione on 23 March.
