Racing casually at home is fun, but participating in tournaments is even more intriguing. However, the most exciting part of esports racing comes when you can compete alongside your team-mates, supported by a professional organisation.

German esports talents now have the chance to join an official team, as the corporate group of the entrepreneur Jochen Schweizer hosts a casting to assemble their own esports racing squad, officially titled as “Jochen Schweizer SimRacing Team – powered by BMW”.

How to enter the casting

Four challenges are waiting for the future members. However, only racers who are at least 18 years old and have a class B driving license are allowed to participate. Before jumping into the challenges, competitors first have to apply via email.

The first round of the casting is already open and invites players to show off their skills in Assetto Corsa. Drivers have to show their skills on three different unknown circuits with a BMW Z4 GT3. The competitors with the best lap times advance to the next round, for which there is no explicit information yet. End of the first stage is October 31.

Jochen Schweizer’s esports racing world of experience

The leader of the new team will be Max Sandritter, former professional racer in the ADAC GT Masters and son of Jochen Schweizer. For the company, it won’t be their first trip into the realms of virtual racing. Jochen Schweizer promotes esports racing in collaboration with car manufacturer BMW. Their Arena in Munich includes an area with professional sim rigs to be tested as part of their “world of experiences” program.

To celebrate the launch of the virtual racing world of the Arena, Jochen Schweizer and BMW hosted a special event this July. Esports racing pros and influencers were invited as well, including stars such as Cem Bolukbasi and Jimmy Broadbent.
