Lamborghini’s first global sim racing tournament The Real Race reached its Grand Final on September 24. The three best competitors out of twelve qualified racers were determined in two races on Assetto Corsa Competizione. The three lucky ones are Nils Naujoks in first place, followed by Matthias Egger in second and Jordan Sherratt in third place. They will get the chance to attend a three-day VIP experience at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Italy.
The road to the Grand Final
Over the last couple of months, twelve sim racers from all over the world qualified for the final stage of the tournament. The qualification stage covered five events which took place between May 29 and July 30. Racers who wanted to compete had to deliver one of the best laptimes to qualify for the Grand Final in September. The five qualifier stages were Monza, Spa-Francorchamps, Nürburgring, Suzuka and Laguna Seca. Every qualifier event took place for six days before the top racers were selected.
The twelve racers qualified for the Grand Final then had to prove themselves on September 24 in two separate races to determine the top three among them. The first course of the day was Barcelona where bad weather conditions made the life of the competitors a little harder. This also meant the permanent loss of pole position for Arnaud Lacombe. Red Bull’s Nils Naujoks finished first on this course. Mount Panorama was selected as the second stage of the day where, again, Naujoks managed to secure first place for himself.
The glorious winners’ reward
The top three racers will now get to spend three days at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. As a special reward for the best racers of the tournament, they will be given an exclusive VIP tour through the facility and a chance to test future Lamborghini car models in the company’s research and development simulator.
Naujoks, Egger and Sherratt will also meet official Lamborghini drivers and train alongside them while driving a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO on the world-renowned Imola raceway. As the overall winner, Naujoks will additionally be gifted a Huracán GT3 EVO limited edition diecast model with in-game livery.
