It’s been a whole week since the release of the new F1 2021 title, and the OverTake community has been avidly playing it and comparing it directly to its successful predecessor, F1 2020.
However, ‘newer’ is not always ‘better’, so we created a mini questionnaire to find out your thoughts and feelings about Codemasters’ newest creation. Are you enjoying the game? Is it better than its predecessor? What are your favourite features? We wanted to hear it all.

Now it’s time to look at your responses. Let’s dig down into the data and find out how you really feel.
DO YOU THINK F1 2021 IS BETTER THAN ITS PREDECESSOR?

31 votings placed
The initial outlook is good for the F1 2021. Nearly three quarters of you responded that the new game was better than its predecessor, suggesting that Codemasters have done a good job with this version. To find out why that might be, we need to move to question number two:
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN F1 2021?

30 votings placed
Of all the features in F1 2021, it perhaps comes as little surprise to learn that it is the all-new story mode Braking Point that is the favourite in the community gaining 40% of the vote. The mode takes inspiration from Netflix’s Drive to Survive series and follows the career of a newcomer on his journey to F1. However, the new mode is fairly simple to complete – perhaps F1 2022 will shine more limelight on it given the popularity it has shown.
A staple of the F1 game franchise is the My Team mode, and this comes in a comfortable second place with 30% of the votes. For hints and tips on how to complete it, check out our previous article and let us know in the comments how much you are enjoying it:

Finally it’s the big question: your overall rating of F1 2021. Is the game a hit, or a flop? It’s time to find out!
HOW WOULD YOU RATE F1 2021 OVERALL? (1 = WORST, 10 = BEST)

30 votings placed
So the results are once again overwhelmingly positive, with just over 73% of you awarding the game an 8 or a 9 out of 10.
However, there was an element of dissatisfaction among the ranks, with 3.3% of votes awarding just 1 and 2 out of 10 respectively. If this was you, we’d love to hear your feedback on why you felt this way.
How does this compare with other reviews?
Reviewer | Score |
OverTake community | 8.3/10 |
---|---|
Metacritic | Critics: 84 / Users: 6.3 |
JeuxVideo | 16/20 |
PC Invasion | 8.5/10 |
Gamestar | 90/100 |
Worthplaying | 9.4/10 |
PC Gamer | 91/100 |
An average of all the votes cast by the OverTake community reveals a score of 8.3/10, which sits within the marks awarded by other gaming websites and reviewers. A surprising outlier is Metacritic’s user score of only 6.3/10 – but at the time of writing, only 22 users have responded which could skew the results slightly.
Overall it is clear that Codemasters can be very proud of F1 2021. Feedback and reviews of the new title have been positive overall, and Braking Point has been received very well by fans.
