Formula 1 legends Fernando Alonso and Rubens Barrichello as well as former IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan are no strangers to endurance races. All of them have already competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Alonso even managed to win the famed competition two times in a row. Both Kanaan and Alonso also claimed victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona in the past.
While the global COVID-19 pandemic makes it extremely difficult to come together for real-world races, the three veterans meet virtually for the Daytona 24 iRacing event, as they already did for the virtual 24 Hours of Spa in 2020. All of them will race for the motorsports community platform WTF1, however they will compete in two different cars at the virtual Daytona International Speedway.

Alonso and Barrichello will race in the LMP2 class with a Dallara P217. They are joined by former F1 Esports Pro Series racer Olli Pahkala and Veloce Esports driver Isaac Gillissen.
Tony Kanaan will drive a Chevrolet Corvette in the GTE class. His team-mates are going to be iRacing content creators and racers David Sampson, Dan Suzuki, Bruno do Carmo, Luiz Tavares, and Augusto Costa.
There will be two sessions at the 24 Hours of Daytona in iRacing: The first starts at 2 AM CET on Saturday (Friday, 8 PM EST), the second one at 2 PM CET on the same day (Saturday, 8 AM EST). Players who have at least a D 4.0 Road license can sign up for the event via iRacing. The sign-up windows open 30 minutes before each race.
