More iRacing updates are underway! Dirt racers can look forward to the arrival of Weedsport Speedway which is coming to the simulation next week. This was confirmed by the official iRacing Twitter account on September 3.
The 3/8-mile dirt oval course located in the state of New York opened its gates in 1955 before getting a reinvented layout in the 1970s.
But Weedsport Speedway has not only been used for racing purposes. In the 1980s, the venue started hosting major concerts and welcomed some of the biggest bands in rock history like Guns N’ Roses, Kiss and Metallica. More than 12,000 rock fans flocked to the Speedway for each concert.
Flagship venue for dirt racing
Today, big block modified cars are ruling the track as it is a flagship for the Super DIRTcar Series. Although this type of vehicle is not yet included in the simulation, rumor has it that iRacing is going to add them to the game soon as well.
WORLD OF OUTLAWS RETURNS THIS YEAR – WITH NEW CLASS?
Several other competitions like the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car World Championship and the USAC National Sprint Car Championship visit Weedsport Speedway regularly too, making it a very attractive venue for oval dirt racing in general.
