The upcoming third season of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup kicks off with the first race on Saturday, when the competitors meet at the virtual Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo, Brazil. One of the competing teams will run under the LEGO Technic brand, after Coanda Simsport announced a partnership with the product line of the well-known Danish toy producer on Wednesday via Twitter.

Experienced Dutch iRacing GT driver Mack Bakkum will race for the new LEGO Technic Esports Team. The design of his car was revealed on Wednesday. Coanda Simsport will still participate in the new PESC season under their own brand, with drivers David Williams, Tommy Østgaard, Jeremy Bouteloup and Ayhancan Güven competing for the team.

While LEGO is known for its iconic bricks that can be put together to create anything imaginable, LEGO Technic is an advanced version of the standard products, often containing mechanical components such as gears and electric motors. LEGO’s involvement in video games is nothing new, but it will be the first time for the Danish toy giant to compete in esports.

Bakkum will try to establish the LEGO Technic brand in its new environment on Saturday. The Dutchman most likely has high ambitions after finishing the 2020 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup championship in ninth place with 275 points under his belt at the end of the season.
