Porsche’s successful iRacing competition will return for a third season on January 9, 2021. The German manufacturer confirmed the return of the tournament on Monday. The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup season three will run until late April according to the press release. The prize money on offer will total $200,000.
New tracks and rule changes
The drivers will have to face each other on three new virtual tracks: Interlagos (Brazil), Montréal (Canada) and the Hockenheimring (Germany). Additionally, the new season will feature some rule changes. Instead of the races having a set duration, they will now be held over a certain distance, with the sprint race being 40 kilometers long and the main race requiring the drivers to complete 80 kilometers.

Furthermore, the qualifying process will change. The fastest driver in qualifying will get the pole position in the sprint race, but the top eight drivers from qualifying will start in reverse order in the main race. In the current version of the cup, it is the other way around.
Qualifiers starting in late October
Once again, drivers from the sim racing community will get the chance to become a part of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup by succeeding in the upcoming qualifier. While the best 20 drivers of the current season have a safe spot on the grid, ambitious newcomers will have to prove themselves from October 24 to November 21.
Each week will feature qualifying races on a different track from Thursday to Saturday. The first qualifier will take place on the virtual version of the Okayama International Circuit in Japan.
Job looking to claim the title on Saturday
Season two of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup will finish on Saturday, October 10, at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The current points leader is British driver Sebastian Job, with his closest opponent, defending champion Joshua Rogers, lying 71 points behind him in the standings. Job is therefore the clear favorite coming into the final race.
