In early 2021, Formula E’s esports championship had its second season. Named Accelerate, it featured six races, a €100,000 prize pool and a test ride for the champion in a real Formula E car.

Kevin Siggy won the 2020 Race at Home Challenge championship and Frederik Rasmussen just pipped long time leader Erhan Jajovski to the first Accelerate title. For the third rendition of Formula E’s esports series, it won’t be a full on season championship but instead, an in-person final with the best nine drivers in the qualifying rounds going to London to compete for the crown alongside the ePrix.

How to enter

Drivers can try to set their best qualifying times either in the E-Village Gaming Arena at Formula E race events or in the comfort of their own home. The initial qualification round begins on 3 April, and takes place on the Rome ePrix circuit ending on 10 April. After that there is the second qualification round at the fictional Electric Docks circuit (which has featured in both Race At Home Challenge and Accelerate seasons) which will run from 23 April until 30 April.

From 8-15 May will be the qualifying round on the Berlin ePrix track, then the Diriyah ePrix circuit from 28 May until 4 June. From 25 June to 2 July the competitors will have to tackle the Hong Kong ePrix track and finally, the New York ePrix track from 10-17 July. After that, the nine fastest drivers across all qualifiers will gather at the ExCeL in London alongside the real Formula E drivers for a shootout to see who will earn that coveted Formula E test.

All that’s needed to participate is a copy of rFactor 2 and the updated Formula E pack with the Season 8 cars and tracks, which will be free for pre-existing owners of the Gen 2 Formula E car.
