As Codemasters and Motorsport Games announced on August 18, the DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series returns for its second series. The competition is open to all players on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Qualifying kicks off on August 25. A total prize pool of $20,000 and a test drive in a real rallycross car are on the line.

The players will be able to join the competition via the World Championship tab in the game menu. There are separate competitions for Rally and Rallycross. Three qualifying sessions decide who’s going to the big final at the Autosport International Show at the Birmingham NEC on January 16.

Participants get a free Ford Fiesta

All contenders who take part in any of the qualifiers are going to receive the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII for free at the beginning of October.

All qualifying sessions will consist of three events at different tracks. For each platform, the driver who sets the fastest time on a track advances to the qualifying final of the respective session. Here, the fastest competitors from all platforms come together and will also be joined by the runners-up based on cumulative times from the three events. In Rally, the three fastest runners-up join; in Rallycross, it will be the two fastest.

However, the format of the qualifying finals has not yet been revealed. What’s certain is that “the two in each qualifying final will earn a place in the semi final before the live final,” as the official statement by the organizers says.

Money and a test drive to win

The organizers have doubled the prize money compared to season one of the World Series: In the offline finals in January, the contenders in Rally and Rallycross fight for a prize pool of $10,000 each. In addition, the winner of the Rallycross competition earns a test drive in a QEV electric rallycross car.
