If you were excited about the imminent arrival of Gran Turismo 7, we have some bad news for you. Sony has announced that the latest version of its Gran Turismo series will be pushed back from 2021 to 2022.

The bombshell was dropped in an interview with GQ, where a spokesperson from Sony stated:

GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.

Sad news for all GT fans

Gran Turismo 7 was initially announced at the PS5's reveal in June last year. Although no specific release date was provided, it was heavily speculated to be available for purchase from early 2021.

The news of the delay will come as a huge disappointment to fans, as it is now a whole seven years since Gran Turismo 6 was published back in December 2013. The long-awaited successor would see Gran Turismo finally returning to its roots:
