In this week's episode of Nitro Nights, Steffi chats to MotoGP eSport rider, Cristian Montenegro Sanchez. As part of the Williams Esports team, the Spaniard had a very successful 2020 season securing 4 podium finishes. This makes him the ideal candidate to tell us about this year's MotoGP eSport season.

A family affair

Although Cristian's achievement of third place overall in last year's championship is an impressive feat, it is eclipsed by that of his older brother Adrian 'Williams_Adrian' Montenegro Sanchez who won the title outright. However, Cristian sees the sibling rivalry as more of a blessing than a curse. He explains to Steffi that they often train together and Adrian shows him where the limit is, which pushes him harder than he ever thought was possible. He sincerely hopes that all the work will pay off this year and he can challenge his brother for the top step of the podium.

Your chance to take on Cristian

Of course, it is entirely possible that you don't have a MotoGP eSport world champion to train with, but don't let this put you off! Cristian underlines that you don't need to be a pro to enter the series – just a copy of the MotoGP 20 game will suffice. The first qualification Challenge took place from 18 until 21 March at Laguna Seca, but with three more still to come, it isn't too late to enter. Admittedly a fair amount of practice is necessary – Cristian reckons that "around three to four hours a day" is normal. To speed up the learning process, make sure you check out our setup guide with 2019 world champion Andrea 'AndrewZh' Saveri:

Afterwards, it's time for the usual Trackmania challenge! Can Cristian master the change from two wheels to four and top our leaderboard? Find out in episode 36 of Nitro Nights!
