Every racer experiences the moment where he thinks he has hit his ceiling at one point in his life. The moment where you think you can’t get faster but still may end up in the midfield. If you are that person, or just looking for ways to increase your lap times in Assetto Corsa Competizione, we know the perfect guy who can help you. Jarsolav “Jardier” Honzisk is back and ready to help you out.

Patience and research

As with everything in life, you will need to be patient if you want to get better. Especially in battles with other racers, you will often find yourself wanting just to send it to gain a position quickly. But Jardier advises against this. It is a common mistake done by inexperienced drivers and usually leads to more harm than good.

Another step to increase your lap time is to do extensive research on things like the car-track combination. This bears value because the wrong driving style on the wrong track can cost you lots of time. While cars like the Aston Martin are very forgiving on the kerbs, others have significant problems in that area. You will need to know what your car handles well and what the track demands of you to be faster.

Pit now or later?

Your pit stop strategy has also more implications than you might think. If you run an overcut, which means that you stay out longer than the field, it also means you have to be conservative with your tyres for them to last long enough.

The undercut is the exact opposite. You come in earlier than anyone else to use the free space you will get behind the field to gain time. It requires you to take your fresh set of tyres to new heights after the pit stop. All in all, you have to get through an extensive process of self-evaluation in order to know what is best for you.
