Ferrari Esports Launches Search for Next Driver

Tonight is the first round of the Ferrari Esports Series which will find the next member of Ferrari's Esports team. Here's all you need to know.

In the SRO GT Esports series, FDA Hublot Esports Team have been the dominant force with 2019 F1 Esports Pro Series champion David Tonizza looking set to win both the sprint and endurance championships. His teammate is Giovanni De Salvo, who earned his place in Ferrari's esports outfit by winning the 2020 Ferrari Esports Series.

Tonight is the first round of the 2021 season, and one of the competing driver will join Tonizza, De Salvo and 2017/18 F1 Esports champion Brendon Leigh at the Scuderia. Here's all you need to know.



Format and Calendar



Qualifications began on Assetto Corsa back in April, with players using a multitude of Ferrari Corse Clienti cars on tracks such as Brands Hatch, Laguna Seca, Vallelunga and Zandvoort. Those who finished in the top 12 of each qualifier qualified for the main season, with 48 total drivers making it. They will all now take their talents to each of the four circuits in four different cars.

The top half of the field after the first four races will qualify for the grand finals where they will compete across three races to crown the champion. Here is the schedule, along with the car they will be racing in each round.

R1: Nürburgring GT - 31 August (488 Challenge Evo)
R2: Monza - 28 September (599XX Evo)
R3: Silverstone - 26 October (FXX K)
R4: Spa-Francorchamps - 30 November (488 GT3 Evo)
Grand Finale: Imola/Barcelona/Mugello - 14 December (TBA)
