We’ve been waiting for weeks now, but it’s finally here. Kunos has released its latest update to Assetto Corsa Competizione; the supposedly game-changing version 1.9.

The update comes with a sizeable DLC package bringing three new cars and a new track. All the new content is included with the aim of replicating the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe championship.

Long rumoured to be a revolutionary update, there is a lot to talk about. But here are the main parts of the update you need to know about.

Tyre and Suspension Overhaul

In a recent article, we took you on a journey through a pair of recent streams by ACC developer, Aristotelis Vasilakos. In the streams, he details all the major changes coming to the simulator’s handling model.

With plenty of improvements coming to address community concerns, it certainly sounds like a revolutionary update for the game. In version 1.9 come modifications to the tyres which are now more flexible in their operating window than before. Players no longer have to restrict themselves to the infamous 27.5 psi. Instead, a wider range of operation allows players to make compromises depending on the temperature, stint length and car model.

Suspension improvements have also been made, specifically to the bump stops. Whereas the previous game version saw infinite compression causing strange rebound on bumps and kerbs, the new 1.9 update to ACC has rooted that problem out making for a smoother ride.

2023 GT World Challenge DLC for ACC

Released alongside the update is a DLC pack including plenty of new content for the calendar year. Focusing on GT World Challenge Europe, it adds the three GT3 cars new for 2O23 as well as the Valencia Ricardo Tormo circuit.

The three cars included are the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo 2, the Porsche 992 GT3 R and Ferrari 296 GT3. Whilst the latter two are brand new models to the GT3 ranks, the first is an evolution on the already successful Huracan base. Based on the influencer event last night in which our very own Champion Joe took part, the three cars look to be well matched. Though they will all provide their own characteristics.

The 2023 GT World Challenge DLC is available now on Steam for £10.99/€12.99. The 1.9 update itself however is available for free to all ACC players.
