After a year’s absence, the ADAC SimRacing Expo is set to return in 2021. The Expo has announced that it will run from September 17 until September 19 later this year. What’s more, it will be an offline event held at the Nürburgring in Germany, the site of the event in previous years. The SimRacing Expo will take place at the same time as the 1000-kilometer race where both vintage and newer touring cars will be running on the circuit itself. This will provide a blend of both simulated and real motorsport for attendees and fans.

Covid-19 resulted in the 2020 edition of the Expo being cancelled, but it is finally coming back. Initially, the idea had been to run the event digitally with nobody in attendance, but this too was called off as a result of lockdown regulations in Germany towards the end of last year. This was the first year since the Expo’s conception in 2014 that it hadn’t taken place, and fans of the event will be relieved to hear that the future of the convention remains bright.
What’s On
For many, the headline aspects of the ADAC SimRacing Expo in years gone by have been the sim racing competitions which are held at the event, and this year is no different. Both the SimRacing Trophy and the Digital GT500 events will make their return in 2021. The current holder of the SimRacing Trophy is Coanda Simsport driver Joshua K Rogers, who claimed victory back in 2019. That year was a great one for Coanda, as their team also won the Digital GT500 event. Fans will be able to enter these competitions’ qualifying stages in the run up to the Expo in September.
There’s more than just the professional racing though. Also present will be exhibitions from various companies within virtual motorsports world. These will include high-end simulators and other more accessible forms of hardware.
Parts of the ADAC SimRacing Expo will be broadcast online to a wider audience through a range of online sources. These will feature news articles, reviews and videos featuring the products on show at the exhibition itself. More specific information about the event will be revealed as the date draws nearer.
