Turn 1 of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

This Major New American DLC is Coming to ACC

Assetto Corsa Competizione

After catching a glimpse of a track in the USA, we now know which American content is coming to Assetto Corsa Competizione. These will be the next American tracks in ACC.

The official game of the SRO GT World Challenge has had very little in the way of circuits from outside of Europe. Kunos showed a few seconds at the end of their keynote video back in November of what seemed to be the Circuit of the Americas.

The United States Grand Prix circuit hosted a round of the SRO GT World Challenge America in 2021, so it seemed that American-based circuits were inevitably going to come to Assetto Corsa Competizione. Now, it has been officially confirmed by Kunos.

The official Assetto Corsa social media channels posted a trailer showing off what are unmistakably shots of Watkins Glen and Indianapolis. Both of these are former US Grand Prix host venues, with Watkins Glen hosting it between 1961 and 1980, and Indianapolis hosting it from 2000-2007. COTA has been the host venue since F1 returned to the States in 2012.

New Look Indy

To F1 fans, the Indianapolis road course will not fully resemble what they remember. It received an overhaul for 2014 when IndyCar decided to use it, which took out a few of the slower segments.

The old Turn 5-7 sequence is gone, in its place the track has a fast chicane which puts drivers on the back straight. Then, instead of the awkward double hairpins, there is now a more flowing section. Finally, the banked final corner is skipped in favour of an infield section.

The circuit has been the host venue for the Intercontinental GT Challenge American round since 2020, replacing Laguna Seca. Watkins Glen currently holds a place on the GT World Challenge America schedule and has been a very popular circuit for many a sim racer, and remains relatively unchanged since F1 last raced there, with only the addition of a high speed chicane.

These three circuits will be seen as much needed content for American racing fans. In the official esports series for GT World Challenge America, the only American track is Laguna Seca. That means the other four rounds need to take place on foreign tracks. Come 2023, the series will have at least four American tracks to select.

What About Other American Tracks in ACC?

Some other highly requested American-based tracks include Road America and Sebring. Both of these feature on the GT World Challenge America schedule in 2022. However, it would appear they will not be coming with this pack.

The process that goes into scanning these circuits and recreating them in the game is very time consuming. Hopefully the likes of Road America and Sebring will be added to ACC soon.

When Will the DLC Be Released?

30 June will be when the content will come to PC. For console players however, the last update on PC was Challengers and they haven’t even come to console yet. Expect these American tracks to come to console in a few months.
