gamescom is like Christmas for gamers and fans, and those eagerly awaiting DIRT 5 just received a very nice present! At Opening Night Live, Codemasters presented the new game mode Playgrounds for their upcoming off-road racer with a gameplay trailer. DIRT 5 hits the road on October 16.

Playgrounds hands the players a versatile map editor with which they are able to create their own tracks from scratch. Choose between roads, ramps, obstacles and more to build your own racetrack or maze.

Players are able to share their creations with the community and rate the work of others. The rating system also proposes community creations to the players based on their preferences.

But Playgrounds is not only a map editor, it also consists of three further game modes:

Number one is Smash Attack, in which you create mazes and treasure hunts for others to solve. Set up tracks to determine the fastest racer in time trials in Game Crasher. Last but not least, DIRT 5 celebrates the return of Gymkhana, in which you achieve trick points with stunts and performances.

OverTake has already had the chance to test the new game mode in DIRT 5. Check out our game preview right here:
