Developer Codemasters records 9 million players for their off-road title Dirt Rally 2.0, as they announced this Tuesday on Twitter and on their official homepage. The game was released in February 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

An astronomical record in Dirt

Codemasters not only noted the new milestone of their playerbase, but also shared some interesting facts about what the army of 9 million rallycross enthusiasts has achieved so far.

When adding up the mileages of all 9 million racers, a total of 1.5 billion kilometers (981 million miles) was completed. Codemasters illustrated this insane number with an impressive comparison: 1.5 billion kilometers is around the distance between the Sun and Saturn, or roughly ten trips from Earth to the Sun.

While driving this huge distance, the players completed over 196 million stages – most of them in virtual New Zealand, as the country seems to offer the most exciting off-road experience.

Out of all the available 50 cars, the most picked vehicles in Dirt Rally 2.0 are the Mini Cooper S in the category of rally cars, and the Audi S1 EKS RX Quattro in the rallycross segment. Codemasters excluded the free starter models from these statistics.
