An extended gameplay video provides a first look at the new Latvia and Poland stages in the upcoming EA Sports WRC 2024 Expansion with tips from real-life rally driver and game designer Jon Armstrong.

In contrast to the F1 series, EA Sports WRC will not get an annual sequel this year for the 2024 season. Instead, a 2024 Season Expansion will add two new locations from this year’s WRC championship next week: Latvia and Poland.

Ahead of the release next week, real-life rally driver and WRC game designer Jon Armstrong has provided a first look at the new locations in an extended gameplay video.

First Look At Poland And Latvia In EA Sports WRC 2024 Season Expansion​

Returning to the WRC championship calendar for the first time in five years, Rally Poland features a mix of tarmac and gravel stages, with flat-out sections combined with tight turns, narrow villages, and treacherous bumps that can catch you out.

Armstrong advises being precise with your steering to tackle the bumps, preparing ahead for heavy braking zones and corners over jumps, and looking out for corner obstacles such as hay bales.


When showing off the new Latvia location, Armstrong gets behind the wheel of the 2024 Ford Puma Rally1 hybrid, which boasts reworked handling and new audio recordings. Codemasters also confirmed in a comment during the stream that the other Rally1 cars will boast “refined audio work.” Compared to Poland, Latvia’s stages are flatter and wider, but you must watch out for ditches and hay-bale chicanes.

Armstrong recommends applying a longer gear ratio to maximise your speed on Latvia’s long straights and stiffening the suspension due to the lack of tight turns. Listening to your co-driver closely is key, as the lack of trees makes it easy to miss upcoming corners.

EA Sports WRC 2024 Season Expansion Release Date​

Split into three packs, the EA Sports WRC 2024 Season Expansion launches on 8 October 2024. The initial Locations & Car pack adds Poland and Latvia, with each location featuring 12 stages. You can also drive five new cars from the 2024 WRC season:

WRC​

  • Ford Puma Rally1 HYBRID ‘24
  • Hyundai i20 N Rally1 HYBRID ‘24
  • Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 HYBRID ‘24

WRC2​

  • Toyota GR Yaris Rally2

Junior WRC​

  • Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo
In addition to the new locations and cars, the Locations & Car pack will include 52 new liveries plus 104 drivers and co-drivers from the 2024 WRC season.

This will be followed with two themed content packs. Launching this winter, the Le Maestros pack will add two new routes to Monte Carlo and Portugal, while the Hard Chargers pack will add a new stage to Sweden and Greece. More content will be revealed for the Le Maestros and Hard Chargers packs closer to release.

Combining all three content packs, the EA Sports WRC 2024 Expansion Bundle is priced €29.99 / $29.99 / £24.99, while each individual pack will retail for €9.99 / $9.99 / £8.99. If you don't already own EA Sports WRC, a bundle containing the DLC plus the base game will be retail for €49.99 / $49.99 / £44.99, rebranded as EA Sports WRC 24. /

Much to say about the game's technical aspects, but the approach of adding season packs as DLC instead of yearly full releases is really a good selling point.

Let's just hope the technical development hasn't stopped, and that we will be seeing improvents in that department also.

If only the engine wasnt such a piece of **** for point to point .... contantly streaming data and stuttering even on a 4090
I have a 4070, and a smooth and steady 100+ fps on high detail. But getting it to run that well in VR is a whole different story.

On what resolution, people do tend to forget that ... me its on 7680x2160 ... and it sttutters while streaming stuff... its horrid
 
5800X3D with 4080 on VD. Runs VR no problem with DLSS/Quality. Just be sure to turn off AF, because it's borked.
Anisotropic filtering? Does this also apply to monitor users? I'd assume it's engine wide if it's a bug, and not just VR specific.

This is for VR (I don't play flat screen so can't speak to that). From what I can tell, they have the setting backwards. The more AF you add, the worse it gets. 16x is absolutely painful to look at. Ground textures, ugh.

Hoping it's fixed in the update. When I reported it on EA's site, my post was removed, which I'm told means they already know about it.
