EA has provided a first look at the EA Sports WRC 24 Season Expansion, which now has a confirmed release date.

When EA Sports WRC launched last November, it was unclear if it would spawn an annual series like the F1 games or become a platform to build on. EA gave us an answer back in July, confirming that cars and locations from the 2024 WRC season will be added in an expansion pack rather than a WRC 24 sequel.

Ahead of its release next month, EA has provided a first look at what fans can expect in the EA Sports WRC 24 Season Expansion.

New Latvia and Poland Stages Coming To EA Sports WRC 2024

Set to release in October, the EA Sports WRC 2024 Season Expansion Bundle will bring new locations, moments, stages, cars, and drivers from the 2024 WRC championship, bringing EA Sports WRC up to date with the current season.

New content will be split into three separate packs. Available in October 2024, the Locations & Car pack will introduce two new locations: the challenging Tet Rally Latvia and the Orlen 80th Rally Poland. Won by Kalle Rovanperä driving for Toyota, Latvia made its WRC debut this year in July. Set on gravel roads, it’s become one of the most challenging stages on the calendar. Meanwhile, Poland returns to the WRC calendar for the first time in five years. Both locations will feature 12 new challenging stages.

New Cars

You’ll navigate these stages in five new 2024 season cars, including the new Rally1 hybrids from Ford, Hyundai, and Toyota. In WRC 2, you'll drive the all-new Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, while the Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo will join the Junior WRC class.

WRC:
  • Ford Puma Rally1 HYBRID ‘24
  • Hyundai i20 N Rally1 HYBRID ‘24
  • Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 HYBRID ‘24
WRC2:
  • Toyota GR Yaris Rally2
Junior WRC:
  • Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo
In addition, the Locations & Car pack will include 52 new liveries and 104 drivers and co-drivers from the 2024 WRC season.

Themed Content Packs

The new cars will be followed by two themed content packs, starting with the Le Maestros pack. Launching in winter 2024, this pack will add two new routes to existing locations: Briançonnet (Rallye Monte Carlo) and Fafe (Vodafone Rally de Portugal). Set in Monte Carlo, Briançonnet features 14.55km of roads with narrow bridges, tight hairpins, and s-bends to test your rally driving skills. Located in the north of Portugal, Fafe is famous for its huge jumps.

Finally, the Hard Chargers pack will bring two newly updated stages in Spring 2025, including Umea in Rally Sweden and Harvati in Acropolis Rally Greece. More content will be revealed for the Le Maestros and Hard Chargers packs closer to release.

"WRC 24 Expansion delivers on our commitment to create the most authentic and thrilling rally experience and allow players to continue their rally journey,” Matthew Battison, Creative Director at Codemasters, commented. “The 2024 Expansion builds upon the base game with new content, breathtaking landscapes, and intense challenges that truly capture the essence of world-class rallying."

EA Sports WRC 2024 Season Expansion Release Date

The EA Sports WRC 2024 Season Expansion will be released on 8 October. Each pack will be available to buy separately or as part of the EA Sports WRC 24 Season Expansion Bundle. Pricing details have yet to be confirmed. For new players, a new digital-only EA Sports WRC 24 will bundle the base game with the 2024 Season Expansion.

So do i understand correctly. Only new roads are going to be Poland and Latvia and they didnt add any new stages to existing locations?

I can't recall any other time when the game was this actively turned into trash post-release. Anti-cheat introduction essentially killed its performance (and for many it doesn't even start), while all tech development has been clearly stopped. VR in particular has been basically abandoned, while UEVR injector performs better than the native implementation.
My guess is that either the entire team or the team working on EA WRC has either been axed or moved over to other things. New stages are nice, but everything else is probably a no go by now.

It's a great pity that both WRC itself and WRC licensed games are dying simultaneously.

Decent amount of content for a season expansion. No doubt will have everyone crying because they all expect far too much from developers these days. Would love to see them go do a better job.

They released it too soon obviously, now they take time to make what is hopefully going to be a finished product. I think it is a good way to go.

Did they ever fixed/updated the Career mode events/races having the same stages on the same order with the same conditions every year?

That issue alone made the Career mode awful, so I would assume fixing it would be a priority. Not to mention the long rally option being capped at only 9 stages.

I've given up with it - since the last update it just does a CTD after launching.
same here, pity, I would have bought and probably loved the DLC but the anticheat killed it because the game is not stored in the same location as the steam folder and I can't be bothered shifting stuff around. Next time I'll buy a new computer (2 years?) the game will be back up and running. Life goes on, just sad, I really loved it and especially our rally club here at RD. :(

I’m keen as mustard, no mention of any performance or other tweaks? I’m still sitting on the edge of my rally seat and my hands are getting sweaty, better put the race gloves back on! 😎 BRING IT ON! 🤓

I DO like that they're updating the game rather than releasing a re-skinned new version every year.
But for some reason I'm just kinda meh on EA WRC. And I'm a big rally fan.
I would like to drive Poland again, that **** is FUN, but not enough to shell out for the other content

VR works fine for me. Just have to turn off anistropic filtering because they have the setting backwards. Glad I kept at it, because this game has become one of my favorites. It's really drawn me into Rally, which I was never a fan of before this game.

This content has to calm down the actual situation and those ppl which actualy are able or want to play it, are happy.
Ive stopped it before anticheat implementation and the VR is a desater.
Before v1.09 i could play it and my pc handled the game very good even when its optimization is pathetic.
But seeing coming the problems with anticheat ive decided to stop it.
Just to avoid problems caused by this useless software.

If they would remove it, i would play it again in singleplayer like before.
But EA do not care.
Kylotonn was not able to deliver proper WRC and now its again in the wrong hands.
EA do not see any problems and do their thing.
I would like to drive on the new Poland stages but i will not touch it.

What exactly is wrong with the anti cheat? Hasn't affected how mine plays. If it's just because people don't want another program running then that's their issue complaining over nothing.

Well, it might just be coincidence, but with the update to the version which included the anti cheat WRC simply stopped launching for me. This is on both my sim rig and general gaming PCs.

This is what I'm saying what does it change because I've never noticed any difference. I had to repair my install via the ea app to get it to launch but since then it's been fine.

It's now using a kernel level anti-cheat. Some system configurations don't play nicely with 3rd party kernel level drivers and processes. This has left quite a few people without a functioning version of WRC on Windows, but also has completely killed it for those who purchased it for the SteamDeck and those who utilise Steams Proton layer for gaming on Linux.
