Fans of EA Sports WRC have been crying out for the 2024 content, and it is finally coming on October 8th. The 2024 season expansion adds two new locations as well as all of the liveries and crews from the 2024 WRC World Championship

It is fair to say that the new content is extensive with new cars, locations, liveries and crews from the 2024 WRC World Championship. However, not everyone is too impressed with the price tag that is joined to this new and exciting content.

Five New WRC Cars Debut

The 2024 Season Expansion introduces a total of five new cars within the three WRC categories. These new 2024 cars will not replace their 2023 counterparts within the WRC, WRC2 and Junior WRC categories. They will simply add an additional class.

The latest models from Hyundai, Toyota and Ford come fully kitted out and ready to hit the stages of EA Sports WRC. These new 2024 cars feature the official 2024 liveries and chassis not only to emulate their real-life counterparts but to stand out to new rally fans and casual game enjoyers.

New engine audio has also been recorded for the Puma Rally1 HYBRID, adding further to the list of improvements for this new era of Rally1 cars. Both the Hyundai i20N and Toyota Yaris also received some slight updates to their existing recordings with small inconsistencies fine-tuned out.

To re-create the level of WRC competition, the handling of the new Rally1 vehicles has been constructed to accurately replicate their real-world counterparts. This handing change hopes to be a big step forward in showing just how wild these hybrid Rally1 cars are.

WRC 2 and Junior WRC

somewhat unsurprising addition is the new Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 to the WRC 2 roster. The addition of this car means that you can truly re-create the real-life battles between Škoda, Toyota and Citroën that have stolen the show on multiple occasions throughout the 2024 season.

In a similar vein to the Rally1 Puma, the Yaris’ unique 3-cylinder engine has its unique soundtrack and the handling has been refined to replicate its nimble chassis and punchy torque, giving the WRC2 class a whole competitor to worry about.

For the Junior WRC category, the brand-new Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo for 2024 is ready to hit the stages and help teach new players and rally fans alike the basics of this incredibly complex sport.

Poland and Latvia debut

Two brand-new locations, WRC Orlen 80th Rally Poland and WRC Tet Rally Latvia, have joined the calendar for 2024. Poland returns to the WRC after more than a seven-year hiatus. With it, it brings characterful stages comprised of long, fast and unpredictable conditions. Based on real public roads, these stages will require your full attention at all times, or you might just find yourself in a tree.

Latvia also makes its much-anticipated WRC debut in 2024, bringing a new challenge to both the real-world drivers and sim racers. Over 20km of real roads are in store for us, with two authentically replicated “hero stages”. All stages will have their shortened and reversed variants resulting in 12 total stages for Rally Latvia's debut.

Both locations can be raced across all the available game modes in EA Sports WRC in any weather and time of day. From sunny skies to treacherous winter snow, Poland and Latvia are a fantastic addition to an already terrific calendar.

Content Pricing

The pricing is on the more expensive side, especially if you already have the game. However, you do get a fair amount of new content as well as two other 'free' content packs.

If you are a new player, you can get the base game, all of the 2024 locations and cars as well as the Le Maestros Content Pack and the Hard Chargers Content Pack for $49.99 USD / £44.99 GBP / €49.99 EUR. The base game costs that price on its own so if you have not picked this title up yet, now is a great opportunity to do so.

The options for existing players are rather pitiful. To get all of the new content, you have to pay over three-quarters of what the base game costs. That is simply too expensive and, rightfully so, the pricing is being torn apart on social media by outraged fans.

The EA Sports WRC 24 Season Expansion Bundle, which includes the 2024 Locations & Cars Content Pack, the Le Maestros Content Pack and the Hard Chargers Content Pack comes in at $29.99 USD / £24.99 GBP / €29.99 EUR.

For just the Locations & Cars Content Pack, existing players will be asked to hand over $19.99 USD / £17.99 GBP / €19.99 EUR and each content pack will be $9.99 USD / £8.99 GBP / €9.99 EUR if not bought with the expansion bundle.

I feel ripped of by EA, so i certainly won't be buying this.

The game will NOT start since they forced stupid a multiplayer anti cheat ( for a game that is mainly used by single players)

So far there has been no effort from them to fix this for all the players that have the same issue

Content is always nice, but:

I think they should fix the base game before spewing out more content. Much is fine, but the VR is only marginally playable to begin with, and with a motion rig it's totally unplayable. The game will not accept any third party OpenXR API layers, which makes it impossible to use motion compensation. Which is needed for VR and motion rig.

I suspect that this is the doing of their new "anti cheat" system.

I paid the full price for this game and benched it until I was able to upgrade my CPU. Now I can't get enough of it. They've come miles from where it was at release. Yes, it is priced too high, but considering the value I will get from it I will buy it. I quit coffee a few months ago, so this just comes from the coffee jar money. Looking forward to the new sounds on the Puma.

I’m certainly no fan of EA and what they seem to have done to our Codies, but I can’t say I’ve experienced any of the issues others are having with this game, even after the addition of the anti-cheat. Every time I play it I have a blast and I’m afraid I’ve not fired up DR2.0 since purchasing it… DR2.0 is still installed though ;)
I’ll be purchasing the dlc and look forward to seeing what else is on the horizon.

DR and DR2 will stay on my PC forever because I also love RX and they do it best. For Rally though, WRC has taken the crown in the series between the 3 of them (will not get into the RBR debate).

Oh yeh love all the Dirt Rally games. I bought the ps4 version of DR too which came with the Colin McRae documentary DVD. Such a great little keepsake.

I must admit that, in terms of content, this game is going strong and fulfilks its promises. About the price, comparing the package and the dlc may be disappointing, but 20 euros for a new year content, including many specials, is much less than your usual yearly F1 game. And if it qtill feels too expensive, just wait for the sales.

What is worrying is the lack of technical improvement announcement with this dlc, considering that many are complaining about technical aspects of the game. By the way, is the shaders compilatiln still not done during the loading times maning any first time on a stage a bad experience?

Did the game receive more car parts for the career mode? Having the possibility to create your own car was a nice idea but at launch it seemed really limited.
