Codemasters are currently in the fast lane, as their racing games have received yet another award nomination. Fans can now vote for F1 2020 and DIRT 5 as the Best Sports/Racing Game in 2020 in the official The Game Awards. Codemasters revealed their nomination for their Formula 1 simulation on Twitter last Sunday, November 22, and asked the players to vote for their favorite game.

If you want to support the developer and publisher Codemasters but are not into F1, you can also vote for another one of their other products: DIRT 5 is nominated in the category Best Sports/Racing Game as well. There are five games in total to vote for:

  • Dirt 5: by Codemasters Cheshire/Codemasters

  • F1 2020: by Codemasters Birmingham/Codemasters

  • FIFA 21: by EA Vancouver/EA Sports

  • NBA 2K21: by Visual Concepts/2K

  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2: by Vicarious Visions/Activision

What are The Game Awards?

The Game Awards are an annual award show honoring various achievements in the video game industry. The ceremony was first hosted in 2014 by Canadian games journalist, Geoff Keighley.

There are 30 categories in total which can be roughly divided into two groups: casual games and esports related titles. Categories range from Game of the Year to Best Audio Design, over to Innovation in Accessibility to Best Esports Athlete.

Another nomination for F1 2020

Esports racing, and especially F1 2020, has received much recognition from various outlets this year. For Codemasters’ flagship title, it is the third nomination already. The game was already a contender for the Golden Joystick Award in the category Ultimate Game of the Year. Its predecessor F1 2019 made it to the list of finalists for the Esports Game of the Year category of the Esports Awards 2020. However, the MOBA League of Legends claimed the victory last weekend.

The motorsports scene also recognized esports racing in an awards show too. This year, the annual Autosport Awards included the category Esports Driver of the Year for the first time.
