On the 23 October 2012, fans of the Xbox racing game franchise Forza Motorsport saw a spin-off game released which, instead of taking place on race tracks all around the world, was in an open world environment. Over the decade, players of the Forza Horizon games have driven around Colorado, along the Southern French and Northern Italian Riviera, Australia, Britain and now Mexico.

To celebrate, there is a Horizon 10-year Anniversary going on in Forza Horizon 5 as of today in what is being dubbed their “biggest update ever”. New cars, events, achievements, cosmetics, and much more were revealed on their Forza Monthly and Forza Let’s Go! streams.

What is New?

Of course, being a car game, new cars are a must. Included in this new update are the Ferrari 599XX, Aston Martin One-77, Koenigsegg Agera, Eagle Speedster and most significantly, the Dodge Viper SRT GTS. The latter was the cover car for the first Forza Horizon game, thus it makes for a rather fitting choice.

With the new update comes Series 13 of the Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist. Each week will be themed around a different instalment of the Horizon games, and players can earn all the cars that were on the covers of the previous titles. Namely, these cars are the Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4, the Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4 and the McLaren Senna.

There is also a new story called Horizon Origins, and it will take the player on a journey of the Horizon Festival’s history. Completing the Horizon Origins story will unlock the Viper from the original Forza Horizon.
