Gran Turismo 7 And F1 24 Due Big Playstation 5 Pro Updates

The PlayStation 5 Pro is due to launch worldwide in November 2024. Gran Turismo 7 and F1 24 are two games that will see significant patches once this new console hits the market.

New features for GT7 and F1 24​

GT7 is aiming for a November release for their PS5 Pro patch that will add the brand-new PS5 Pro-focused rendering modes. These rendering modes will allow the player to either have the graphical settings turned up to the max which includes a Raytrace Priority mode, or tone it which combines the normal PS5's graphical capability modes.

The new Ray Tracing will add greatly to the new 8K/60fps option available for Gran Turismo 7 when the patch is released. Not much more is known about what else will either be changed or added for GT7, but F1 24 is also receiving some love with a graphical update; specifically to the wet weather conditions and track surfaces.

Ray tracing is the buzzword for this first release of the PS5 Pro. F1 24's highest graphical option, 'Quality', is receiving an overhaul to include the functionality. The patch aims to sharpen up the visuals in wet weather conditions and add to the immersion when you are sat in the rain-soaked cockpit of Lando Norris' race-winning McLaren or Charles Leclerc's scarlet Ferrari.

The pre-order queue for the PlayStation 5 Pro is now live on the PlayStation website as well. The console promises to be much more powerful than the standard version, but also comes with a relatively hefty price tag for a console at €799.99 / $699.99 / £699.99.

Tbh, the F1 games on PS5 are already stunning. Physics aside, it's a very good looking game - on my pc with it's 2060 attempting to run it, it just looks a complete blurry mess. The Devs have obviously worked witchcraft on the consoles to get them looking as good as they do.

It's not that the devs have worked witchcraft on the console versions, it's that the development is focused on the console version and the PC version is just port from the console version, often lacking in optimisation.

Another reason why the console versions can perform better is that it's known hardware. If you're developing for console then you know the performance precisely - every PS5 or Xbox has exactly the same performance with no variation and every software trick that you use will work on all of them. PCs on the other have a myriad of hardware with differing performance meaning there's no one size fits all optimisation that can be done.

Oh, and bear in mind that the PS5 graphic processing power is around that of the 2080ti/3070/4060ti, so around 50 to 60 percent faster than your 2060.
 
£700 for a console :roflmao: but then what else does anyone expect. Apparently its acceptable to charge £100 for a game these days. Or in Microsofts case with the new flight simulator £200. Not gonna be long before the average person can't even have the escape of gaming to take them away from how crap this world has become.

Agreed with the poor optimization on pc, but disagree that the ps5 gpu is better than a 2060 . The trend of consoles is to use a cheap mid tier scalable gpu at low costs but optimize it better than the consumer level products. I'm sure they know most ppl don't have 8k tv's or 8k games yet, so ps5 pro may be just upscaling and sharpening everything like dlss.
 
The F1 pro version looks really well done graphically, makes our PC sims looks quite dated IMO.

I remember at the time the PS5 specs were released a lot of tech sites compared the raw TFlop specs to the current GPUs and it was estimated that it would potentially perform around the 2080 ti mark.

However, having just done a quick bit of research, the general consensus these days is that it lies around the 2070 to 2080 mark depending on game.

The PS5 Pro has an estimated GPU compute power of around that of a 4070 ti. However how that pans out in the real world is yet to be seen.

Yeah, I was looking on the PSN store the other day and saw the next Assassins Creed game for pre order - £117.99.... For a digital game.... Where you don't even get anything physical! Honestly, some dev companies must be laughing hysterically when they post these games and their prices online because they know they'll be a (rather large) section of idiots who will be dying to get their hands on the title whatever the cost. Talk about having more money than sense.

considering a 4090 costs 1800 for just a smeggng GPU I think it's reasonable!!
 
Choice is always a good thing. I've chosen to have a PC, but not everyone can afford these insane GPU prices, so it's great they have an option.
 
You don't relly need to buy the best of the best to get a good and usable PC, mine has set me back well less than a grand and I have a reasonable machine for the next half decade, bearing in mind that a PS5 would cost a similar amount and the next gen of Gran Turismo will likely requre a PS6
I'll still be able to use my PC even if I buff it up in the next couple of years it's still gonna be cheaper than an ever increasing stack of playstations, I still have my PS1, PS2 slim and PS3 and a PS4... and they're worth nothing, though at the time cost an arm and a leg, the bits from my PC have been handed down to various family members.
 
I bought a PS5 Pro for GT7, but I'm worried it may actually be a degradation in IQ based on the early previews. I don't care about RT reflections – I just want a better framerate and less pop-in compared to the curious experience.
 
to be honest i am more interested in the modes they had previously and how these will run on the PS5 Pro, namely the one that prioritized image quality but unlocked the framerate. Could not care less about raytraced car reflections. Only rt that would have an actual impact in a racing game is for me rt global illumination or ambient occlusion. But anyways...
As far as i remember from a friends PS5 the game was running at full 4k with all details but unlocked fps and it was hitting something between 70 and 90 depending on the weather and the amount of cars on screen. I guess this mode should be able to deliver almost a locked 120 on the PS5 Pro?
