A special PlayStation State of Play event is scheduled for February 2nd and will reveal more gameplay and PS5 footage from Gran Turismo 7.
As the release of what will almost certainly be the top selling racing game released in 2022 nears, the team behind Gran Turismo 7 is set to give the public its first long-form glance at footage and gameplay in a State of Play event on February 2nd.
Developer Polyphony Digital has been quite open about sharing details about cars and tracks that will be included in the title that is set to release on March 4th, but little has been shared in terms of gameplay. The State of Play event is expected to showcase more gameplay than we’ve seen to date along with more in-game footage captured on PlayStation 5, and should help future players get a better understanding of what GT7 will be about.
What little gameplay that has been shared to date seems to indicate that the actual driving experience won’t be a vast departure from Gran Turismo Sport, but the supporting gameplay will be a callback to the early GT titles. Leading up to the most recent title, gameplay in the Gran Turismo series was largely single player focused and allowed players to heavily customize cars. GT Sport, however, pivoted to a focus on online play with limited car customization.
The Gran Turismo series has been a success on nearly all fronts since its debut more than 20 years ago. The series has sold over 70,000,000 units and is responsible for introducing many people to a more simulation-oriented racing game style. The games are so popular, in fact, that each release is associated with a spike in sales for its respective console. Thankfully, with PlayStation 5 consoles still hard to come by, PlayStation 4 players will also get to enjoy the title.
The event will be streamed on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels February 2nd at 14:00 PST / 17:00 EST / 22:00 UTC.
