PISTA Motorsport To Add F2 Argentina - Full Release Planned For 2026

REG Simulations continue to be hard at work for PISTA Motorsport: Not only is the Argentinian studio going to add Formula 2 Argentina to the sim soon, it also has an ambitios roadmap in place for the title.

PISTA Motorsport has been available in Steam Early Access since late August of 2024, and the sim that aims to celebrate the Argentinian motorsports scene has potential despite being relatively bare-bones for now. The latter is set to change, however: REG posted a roadmap for the rest of 2024 and 2025, planning to fully release PISTA Motorsport in 2026. You can find the full roadmap at the bottom of this article.

The roadmap contains four stages, plus one more for 2026 and beyond. As Stage 1 including the Early Access release has already been completed, Stage 2 that is yet to come in 2024 promises a number of interesting developments, including rally mode for online and offline play.

Considering the fact that PISTA does not have AI opponents yet, this makes sense as to why it would be feasible to implement. However, we are wondering whether 'rally', in this case, means actual rally stages, or if it is going to be more about point-to-point racing. The latter would probably use similar (or the same) mechanics as the Drag racing mode that is coming in the same stage.

Formula 2 Argentina With Next Update

Stage 2 will also see the addition of four new tracks, and just as many new cars. One of them is the Formula 2 Argentina, the fastest single-seaters in Argentina, according to REG. However, F2 Argentina is not a national variant of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. The final rung below F1 on the international single-seater ladder is bigger, technologically more advanced and features considerable power at 620 hp.

Compared to this, the Argentinian namesake slots in between "regular" F3 and F4 when it comes to the cars' power. The Renault F4R inline-4 engine can go up to 200 hp, so the F2 Argentina should be a tamer (but certainly no less fun) experience. The car will arrive via the next update, according to REG, though it is not quite clear when it will deploy.

Additionally, one of the tracks to be included in Stage 2 has already been hinted at on REG Simulation's Instagram account. PISTA looks to be set to add the Autódromo Ciduad de Rafaela. Located in the Santa Fe province and opened in 1952, the track is mostly a big oval with a few variants. Interestingly, it even hosted an USAC IndyCar race with two heats in 1971, both won by Al Unser.

Proper races will be implemented in Stage 3 in 2025, implying that AI opponents will arrive at that point as well. Online racing is set to follow in Stage 4, possibly in the second half of 2025 - as well as a career mode, which should be an excellent opportunity to find out more about motorsport in Argentina.

I bought the so-called EA but had it refunded soon after, as it was not a real EA but more like a glorified Beta build. That said, I'm not giving up on that title and will wait until 2025 to see how things are evolving.

In the meantime, there are plenty of other sims out there to keep me fully busy! :D

They could have used your money to further develop the features it's lacking.
Btw Early Access mostly means, pre-beta builds.

Compared to other early access titles I've tried, this one was a lot less developed. I could not even use my Fanatec rig.

Pista approach on how a race car behaves is very interesting and might be the correct one. I like it a lot. Of course it is only the beginning.

The other title that is emerging in a more classical approach is Rennsport. Guys with the recent updates it is becoming very good and I prefer it to rf2 ( the cars have finally a weight).

The same roadmap since the early access launch, good for the devs if they meet its milestones, which are ambitious. Looking forward to seeing advancements.
