BeamNG.drive's latest 'Teaser Tuesday' post has unveiled plans for a pre-war American car. The soft-body, node-based simulator has had some community-created content around this era of automotive history, so how will it compare?
In a Halloween-themed announcement, the BeamNG.drive development team were searching their attic when they discovered some documents labelled as top secret from 'Ye Olde BeamNG'. This letter contained sketch drawings of the new vehicle which appears to be styled after a pre-war car, potentially from the USA.
A few cars that this new vehicle could have taken inspiration from would be the 1933 Packard Twelve Stationary Coupe which has those beautiful sweeping front wheel arches that the drawings represent.

This vehicle was fundamental to shaping pre-war automotive history in the United States and is often categorized among some of the most spectacular and beautiful cars to have been built from this era. The facelift version was created in the transition period between custom bodywork going out of style and moulded bodywork being brought in to reduce costs.
These cars came with 7.3 and 7.8 litre V12s, an engine we have yet to see in the vanilla version of BeamNG. This addition could spark a whole range of swaps and opportunities for the incredibly creative community behind BeamNG.

The car is the perfect example of what this new update could bring. The car has been built in the program, Automation. If you are not aware of what this program can do, check out our build series right here on OverTake.gg.

The car has a four-speed manual transmission and handles exactly how you would imagine a car of this age would. The damage model is not up to BeamNG standards, especially with it being an Automation export, but it is still a fantastically detailed car that will get you through until the new vehicle arrives in the next official update.
What do you think about this new vehicle for BeamNG on the horizon? How do you see it benefitting BeamNG as a game? Let us know down in the comment below!

Mods
After combing through the BeamNG mod repository, a significant lack of pre-war vehicles became apparent. Adding this mystery American car as first-party content will reignite the communities passion for these incredible feats of engineering.Selection of 1930s vehicles. Image: gamebros57

If you can not wait until the new update does eventually arrive, there are a few options for you. One of the best ones would be this, 1932 Roddenham V16 Towncar from gamebros57 on the official mod repository. This car is the only one available from the official mod repository, so whilst there are plenty of other options for this car, the base version is the one we would recommend. The car is the perfect example of what this new update could bring.
