Formula 1 and Codemasters have opened the qualifications for the F1 Esports Pro Series 2021, as they announced on their official homepage this Thursday.
Players who want to participate in next year’s tournaments can try to secure a spot by completing an in-game challenge. The qualifiers start today and are open until October 31. Every player who owns a copy of F1 2020 can participate – and also has an unlimited number of attempts. But what is the challenge?
You have to enter a custom game in the Esports hub, where you get placed in the third-placed car at the Italian Grand Prix, with only six laps remaining. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are in P1 and P2, and your job is to overtake both of them. Whoever performs best in this league will be awarded a chance to be selected by an F1 Esports team in the 2021 Pro Draft.
You can find all additional information on the official homepage of F1 Esports.
What is the F1 Esports Pro Series?
The Formula 1 Esports Pro Series is the official world championship in Codemasters’ popular racing simulation F1. The event is so special because it is directly promoted by Formula 1 and the official teams of the premier class of motorsports are involved.
The Pro Series consists of three major stages: the Qualification, the Pro Draft and the Pro Series itself. In the Pro Draft, F1 teams select their drivers to represent them in the virtual championship.
Brendon Leigh from Great Britain claimed the golden trophy in the first two years of the tournament in 2017 and 2018, and Italian finished first in 2019. The Pro Series is one of the most prestigious tournaments in esports racing, and it has a prize pool to match. Last year, a total of $750,000 was at stake.
The kicks off later this month on October 14. For more information and all dates of this year’s series, you can take a look at our coverage of the tournament here.
