The free-to-play sim will be seeing a huge addition (quite literally) to its already varied collection of vehicles. Truck racing is on its way to RaceRoom from the likes of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
The RR Truck will be powered by a 12,600cc 6-cylinder engine that produces 1,100 horsepower and 5,000 newton metres of torque at 1,250rpm. Coupled to a 16-speed gearbox, it will accelerate from a standstill to 60mph in about five seconds and onto a limited top speed of 100mph. All this despite weighing 5.3 tons.
Help from an Expert
RaceRoom developers KW Studios employed the help of Sascha Lenz, a German full-time truck racer whose father Heinz-Werner was a 3-time European Truck Racing class champion in the 1990s. Sascha is also successful in his own right, taking eleven race wins and becoming the 2021 season runner-up.
Lenz provided the devs with insight on the likes of the water-powered brake cooling system, the unique transmission properties and the unique driving style needed to drive these vehicles. There are a lot more details released by KW Studios on Steam, all of which can be viewed here.
The last game to feature racing trucks was the officially licenced FIA European Truck Racing Championship game by N-RACING from 2019. The release date for the RaceRoom Truck currently not official, but it’s certainly going to be a popular addition when it does release.
