Fans of motorbike racing rejoice! There is a new game hitting the proverbial shelves today, 19 August, that ought to be right up your alley. Regrettably for those of you in the Americas, the release date is still a few days away at 24 August.
RiMS Racing, developed by RaceWard Studio and published by Nacon, has been created with the intention of being a serious simulation of motorcycle racing. Below is some of the most important information you need to know about this new game.
What is RiMS Racing?
RaceWard have stated that their goal in developing RiMS Racing was to create “an extremely accurate riding experience” which featured “precise control of the bike”. With an emphasis clearly placed on the physics and simulation side of things, there is a clear difference in philosophy to games such as MotoGP 21. In terms of the engine used to create the game, it is the same one that was used to create the TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge games.

RiMS offers fifteen total racing tracks, ten of which are circuits while the other five are road courses. While this is not a huge number, there are still plenty of tracks to work with. The choice of bikes, on the other hand, is a little lower. Eight total motorcycles are available in the game, from eight different manufacturers.
However, there are hundreds of customisable features, plenty for each bike. The aim is for players to customise and develop their own choice of the eight available bikes, rather than simply choosing one from a larger list.
Speaking of these customisable parts, in the game’s career mode the wear and tear of racing will make itself thoroughly known, as each individual part of your motorbike will wear out over time.
Platforms and Pricing
RiMS Racing will be available from today, 19 August on PC, as well as on both the new and previous generations of Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The game will also be released on Nintendo Switch.
On Steam, there is currently a 10% discount on the game until 26 August, dropping it from £39.99/€49.99 down to £35.99/€44.99, so if you want to pick up the game you may want to do so while the sale is still ongoing!
