Buckle your seatbelts for a trip straight into the world of leaks: Amazon accidentally revealed a new Need for Speed title and additional information on the game. The Australian retailer Mighty Ape listed the game Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered in their Amazon page, but quickly deleted the offer again.
However, the Xbox news platform Pure Xbox reported on a screenshot showing some new details.
The most interesting point is surely the release date. If the leak is correct the game will be released on November 13, 2020, for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. There was no mention of upcoming consoles such as the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. As the leak was inofficial, there we might get more information on the next-gen versions soon.
Neither developer Electronic Arts, nor Microsoft, nor Nintendo confirmed the rumors or the alleged release date, so we have merely a hint for now – but it seems like a realistic option. The original game Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was released ten years ago on November 16, so a similar date for the remastered version seems plausible. Additionally, the new consoles will likely hit the market around the same time. It is therefore possible that retailer Mighty Ape only listed the standard game. There could be a whole package for the next-gen devices plus brand new Need for Speed in the pipeline.
The next part of the Hot Pursuit action
The short-lived Amazon listing is not the only leak that fueled speculations about the remaster. Already in June, news outlet Venturebeat teased the community with rumors that Hot Pursuit comes to Nintendo Switch this year.
The NFS spin-off puts its emphasis on police chases and racing instead of customization. You can choose between playing the police or street racers, eaching boasting their own unique set of weapons. The previous edititions of Hot Pursuit were widely acclaimed by critics and players alike, so a new part of the series is surely going to be popular with the fans.
