Mysterious crate found in Shanghai

At midnight on July 20, a mysterious crate was dropped in front of Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai. Many people tweeted pictures of the huge box and puzzled over what it contains. A lot of them already suggested that the red box with the blue tarpaulin looks very similar to the airdrops from PUBG or Game of Peace.

The official Twitter account of Tesla China finally brought light into the darkness on Monday morning. An animated video shows the dropping of the box in front of the factory. It also displayed the transport of the box to Shanghai’s Taikoo Hui Center.

The transport happened in real life as well just a few hours after the video was published. The video then reveals what can be found inside the crate.

It is Tesla’s Model 3 that can now be played in Game for Peace which is the name of the mobile version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in China. The battle-royale shooter, being published by Tencent Games, is one of the most downloaded games in China with more than 400 million users.

Tesla Model 3 is one of the flagship cars of the company, being the top-selling plug-in electric car in 2018 and 2019 worldwide. The factory in Shanghai which received the airdrop is responsible for the final assembly of the Model 3 cars.

The players of Game for Peace will now be able to give the popular car a ride. According to first gameplay videos, three different liveries for the car can be found in the game. The colours are white, silver, and purple.
