After an issue-laden release, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is facing more difficulties after the launch of its Season 1 content - and publisher Nacon might, too.

When Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown first launched on September 12 for those who pre-ordered the Gold Edition, the game was hardly playable, if at all - server and sign-in issues plagued the title on all platforms. A series of fixes has been deployed since, which seemed to mostly resolve things.

However, the launch of Season 1, which runs until December 18 and includes the Solar Crown PVP competition, weekly Live Events and the Solar Pass featuring cosmetic items, caused more problems. Players have noticed that Solar Pass and Live Events might not show up in-game. And that is after the launch of Season 1 had been delayed in favor of a big post-launch patch that should ensure things run smoothly.

Bigben Might Sell Nacon

The launch issues of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, 13 years after TDU2, could also have quite an impact on publisher Nacon, who owns developer Kylotonn (KT Racing). According to French finance website Les Echos Investir, Nacon's parent company Bigben Interactive considers selling the publisher.

The site quotes a note sent to clients of financial analysis firm Invest Securities:

"While the management was certainly counting on Test Drive to revalue Nacon and help it refinance its convertible bond maturing in February 2026, the game's launch failures will force it to consider an option that was previously excluded: the sale of its entire stake in Nacon, currently valued at only €50 million."

Nacon is currently developing Endurance Motorsport Series via KT Racing as well, and the company has presented its first pieces of sim racing hardware recently, too.

Sometimes I'll go in to read Steam reviews about it just for fun. I just don't understand how this game is even a release, has no one tested it before.

No bug fixes for basic issues in their previous games, just left to die. Bad companies eventually fail. It was only a matter of time.

Surely most of them already got paid?
I'm sure they were paid, , However the investment in the game over a number of years would have been significant, combined with the low sales and the assumed business plan of using this title as a source of ongoing revenue would have an impact on the company, and what hits the company hits the workers.

Also find it an absolute joke that given the need to be constantly connected to the Internet if you don't subscribe to gamepass you cannot play this game at all on xbox. So if you buy this and don't play anything else it will cost you £15 a month to play
