Motorsports have always been ever-evolving mediums of entertainment. New technology is forever being implemented into the latest cars and tracks to ensure better safety, speed, and sustainability. However, some such technologies aren’t quite ready yet, for one reason or another. This is why we see the creation of ‘concept cars’, vehicles which are designed to showcase what is possible, rather than simply what is currently plausible. The latest of these exciting new ideas which is being shown to the world is the Porsche Vision GT, but what’s it all about?

A Glimpse into the Future

The new Porsche Vision GT will exist only within the world of Gran Turismo, a software which has been used to showcase many interesting concepts in the past. However, there is also a real-life model of the car which can be found at Porsche HQ, and we here at OverTake were invited along to go and stare at the wonders of the future!

Specifically, the car will be released along with Gran Turismo 7 on 4 March 2022. It provides us with Porsche’s perspective on what is to come in the world of motorsport. It’s a compact, small car which runs off of 100% electrical energy, so far, so futuristic.

We spoke to Ingo Bauer-Scheinhütte, the lead exterior designer, to get a better understanding of Porsche’s design philosophy when it comes to the Vision GT. He emphasised the fact that, while the car will only exist in a digital format, the design process did not cut any corners. Everything about the Vision GT is realistic and possible to create, rather than something purely fantastical. To find out more about this revolutionary new concept, to hear what else Ingo had to say and to learn about the future of motorsports, take a look at our video now!

My name is Jacob and I have been writing for OverTake since November of 2020. I come from the UK, but I'm now living in Berlin. I love to watch, write about and sometimes shout about all forms of racing.
