For PlayStation and Xbox players, the latest Trackmania game wasn’t available to play. But now you can download it on consoles.
15 May saw the long awaited release of the Trackmania game to consoles and cloud services. After releasing only for PC in July 2020, the soft reboot had been promised to come to consoles for a long time.
Players on all platforms can race against one another, and along with crossplay there is also cross-progression. That means players who have the game on multiple platforms can jump between them with the same save file.
What is Available?
Trackmania may be free-to-play on consoles and PC but there are also optional paid subscriptions. Premium access tiers unlock more social and community-oriented features. This allows groups of players to create and share their own car customisations, organise private rooms and most importantly, the ability to build their own campaigns and competitions.
Players can also gain access to the Cup of the Day gamemode by paying for a premium access tier. Standard access costs £7.99/$9.99 per year, Club access is £24.99/$29.99 per year and for three years it’s £49.99/$59.99.
There are two matchmaking modes, ‘Royal’ and ‘Ranked’ as well as daily competitions. Players can unlock prestige skins, medals and trophies for their achievements. There are also chances for players to create their own skins and tracks, with the track editor being overhauled for the console experience.
For those who have never played Trackmania before, the games are all about racing against the clock on outlandish stunt courses. In terms of intense and addictive gameplay, there have been comparisons drawn between Trackmania and Rocket League.
Being free-to-play on all platforms, it’s surely worth downloading and trying it out. Trackmania is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Amazon Luna.
