It’s happening! Sony announced to share more information about the upcoming PlayStation 5 in a live event on Thursday, June 11, 10 PM CEST. According to their PlayStation Blog, the one-hour presentation will reveal the first games that will be available on the PS5. It will also give us more “insights about the development of the console,” as the blog entry says.
You can watch the event on their Twitch and YouTube channels.
The PlayStation 5 event was originally planned for June 4. It was rescheduled due to the #blacklivesmatter protests in the United States and around the world.
The PS5 is set to hit the market at the end of 2020. A leak recently suggested November 20 to be the release date. However, this hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Anonymous sources claim that the pricing will be around €499 on release.
Which racing games are already confirmed?
This is the most important question of the event: Which games are going to be revealed? A few have already been confirmed for PS5. One of them is DiRT 5.
The next iteration of the series will feature races around the globe, many cars from rallycross to GT cars, a brand-new career mode and a split-screen mode for up to four players. Find out more about the game here.
A new Gran Turismo?
There are also a lot of rumors about the games coming to PS5. One of the loudest ones is about Gran Turismo 7. Many people believe a new Gran Turismo will be a launch title for the PS5. So far, nothing has been confirmed but there are many indications pointing towards a new GT hitting the market soon.
Many news outlets recently reported about a trademark protection record that appeared in Argentina. Polyphony Digital, the developers of Gran Turismo, allegedly saved themselves a new trademark for Gran Turismo.
There are also speculations about a port of Gran Turismo Sport coming to the new console as a launch title to give Polyphony more time to work on the new GT game. We might get to know more about this very soon.
Project Cars 3 to get a PS5 update?
Project Cars 3 has been confirmed to come to PS4 in summer 2020. Many fans wish to see an upgrade of the game coming to the new console as well.
This would be a reasonable step. According to Slightly Mad Studios, Project Cars 3 will feature 12k textures and full VR support. Even the latest edition of the PS4 might not have enough hardware power to fully make use of those features. An upgrade adaptation for PS5 could deliver the full beauty of Project Cars 3 to PlayStation players.
