Jaroslav ‘Jardier’ Honzik is no stranger to OverTake. His tutorials offer tips and tricks to improve your sim racing, and he’s even been our guest on Nitro Nights before. This week, he returns to discuss his participation in the new Formula E: Accelerate series.

Practice makes perfect

Our man Jardier has a busy schedule – in addition to Formula E: Accelerate, he also takes part in the Porsche TAG Heuer Supercup Allstars series and the ACC Racing Club International Championship. However, he reveals to Steffi that the Formula E series is the hardest thing he’s ever done. He highlights that “the competition is tough” and praises North-Macedonian driver Erhan Jajovski who won the first two rounds from pole position, establishing a healthy lead at the top of the table. As Jardier points out, such dominance requires “a lot of practice”, especially when the margins are so tight.

On the attack

A novel feature of Formula E: Accelerate that sets it apart from other racing series is the so-called “Attack mode”. When activated, this mode gives drivers an additional 35 kw of boost, which equates to approximately 20% more power. The boost lasts for around two minutes depending on the track, and can make drivers between one to two seconds faster over one lap. Jardier explains that it adds a tactical element to the race, as it can not only be used to attack the driver in front of you, but also to defend from those behind.
