Nitro Nights Episode 7 | Will Buxton

Nitro Nights Episode 7 | Will Buxton

Tom is joined by Formula 1 reporter Will Buxton in the seventh episode of Nitro Nights. Tune in!

This episode’s guest is fairly well-known, even beyond the realms of racing: Will Buxton. The 39-year-old Brit has been a staple in motorsports journalism for two decades and appeared in the 2019 documentary Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Netflix.

Will Buxton on the secret of good journalism

Today we change roles and let the F1 reporter and presenter answer our questions. In his chat with Tom, Will reveals how hard it is to walk the fine line between being too harsh and too light to his interviewees: “You will upset people from time to time but that’s just the nature of what it is.” Consequently, Will humorously admits to annoying F1 drivers for a living.

This wouldn’t be a proper episode of Nitro Nights if Tom and Will didn’t talk digital racing. Our guest assesses there is a lot of potential in the digitization of F1 that we currently see. It is fascinating to him that people made it from their virtual racing rigs to real tracks and vice versa. “It’s about adaptability, it’s about putting yourself in that place. And it’s great to see someone like Max [Verstappen] going and trying different championships,” Will explains.

Tom and Will cover a lot more topics, so make sure to watch the entire episode!
