It has been a long time since a full blown manager-style game has been made for Formula One. Now, Frontier Developments have given us the first F1 Manager game in 22 years since EA’s F1 Manager, and it’s available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Our own ChampionJoe got his hands on the game and had plenty of praise for it. Although there’s one missing feature that rendered it a bit hollow. Find out what it is in the video above.
What is F1 Manager 2022?
If you think of the Codemasters F1 games My Team career mode, think of F1 Manager 2022 as a massive expansion on that but without the driving element. Of course, for many people the driving is the point, but for others the different style of racing game is a breath of fresh air.
The game is centred around running one of the ten teams, with all factors involved. As team principal, the player can sign drivers and team personnel not just from other F1 teams, but also in the feeder series FIA F2 and FIA F3.
Races can be followed in real time, players can edit the strategy and like F3, another feature present in this game and not in the Codemasters titles is red flags.
F1 Manager 2022 holds the official licence of F1, F2 and F3 from 2022 to 2025. Developed on the Unreal Engine 4 by Frontier Developments who are responsible for other titles like Elite Dangerous, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evolution.
