How Good is the New rFactor 2 BTCC DLC Pack?

rFactor 2

The latest rFactor 2 content update includes two cars and tracks from the 2021 British Touring Car Championship. But how is the new rFactor 2 BTCC DLC?

Sadly, it is now a certain fact that Motorsport Games will not be releasing a standalone BTCC game in 2022. The game was removed from their future content roadmap earlier this year. However, this doesn’t mean that they have given up on using the BTCC license altogether. In fact, new BTCC content is coming on to the simracing scene for the first time in literal decades.

New rFactor 2 BTCC Content

In place of a brand new BTCC game, Motorsport Games have decided to release new BTCC content in rFactor 2 as a paid DLC. The pack consists of two tracks and two cars from the world of British Touring Cars, but what are they?

First, the tracks. Two classic names for those who know their stuff about British motorsport are being added to the sim. Brands Hatch, along with its shorter Brands Hatch Indy variant, is the first. Alongside it is another ex-F1 and current BTCC circuit in the form of Donington Park. Both tracks are very well implemented, and they can boast both a good feel and a good look in game.

Then there are the cars themselves. Fans of front-wheel-drive cars will be happy to learn that the 2021 race winning Toyota Corolla GR is one of the additions. It can be very hard to get FWD cars right in racing sims, but Studio 397 have done a great job making the Corolla GR feel just right.

It wouldn’t make sense to add a BTCC pack without including the current championship winning machine in there somewhere. As such, the Infiniti Q50 is the other new car. Unlike the Toyota, the Q50 is a rear-wheel-drive car. Because of this, it’s certainly more tail-happy and a bit tougher to drive than its counterpart, but it more than makes up for it in terms of both fun and pace.

However, ChampionJoe has a couple of big issues with the new DLC. To learn more about these, as well as the prices and overall review of the BTCC pack, take a look at our latest video now.
